Degrees accreditation

Accreditation consists of the evaluation of the quality of a degree programme in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 822/2021 and the protocols of quality agencies aligned with the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance (ESG).

The accreditation of official doctoral degrees awarded by institutions that are not institutionally accredited must be renewed within a maximum period of six years from the start date of the doctoral programme or the renewal of the previous accreditation. The evaluation process will be carried out in accordance with the procedure and deadlines established by the Autonomous Community of Galicia. In all cases, it will include a visit by external experts to the university.

The accreditation renewal process may entail the implementation of improvement measures, which could also be the subject of a request to modify the degree title if so determined by the doctoral school.

The process marks the end of a degree programme’s lifecycle and, if successful, results in the renewal of authorisation to continue offering the programme.
