Doctoral theses defended at the University of Vigo that have been awarded the grade of ‘excellent’ cum laude may be eligible for a special mention in the form of an extraordinary doctoral award
The university shall establish annually the number of extraordinary awards to be granted, as well as the deadlines and procedures for the call for applications. This call shall include a list of specific criteria to be applied in the selection of theses for the award of the extraordinary prize.
The Rector shall annually appoint the examination boards responsible for drawing up the proposal for the award, which shall be sent to the EIDO Standing Committee for assessment and forwarded to the General Secretariat for approval by the Governing Council.
Doctors who are awarded the special doctoral prize will be exempt from public fees for the issuance of degrees and will receive the formal recognition established by the university.
The call for applications for the 2024/2025 academic year was approved at the Management Committee meeting on 29 April 2025.
In accordance with the provisions of Article 45 of the University of Vigo’s Doctoral Studies Regulations, this Rectorate hereby publishes the call for applications for the Extraordinary Doctoral Awards for theses defended at this university during the 2024/2025 academic year, which have been awarded the grade of ‘outstanding’ cum laude, covering the period from 1 September 2024 to 31 July 2025.
The application period will run from 1 June to 12 September 2025.
