European Commission initiative to implement European standards for research at the pre-doctoral stage and throughout the rest of a researcher’s career
HRS4R Human Resources Strategy for Researchers

In 2017, the University of Vigo was recognised by the European Commission (EC) with the accreditation HR Excellence in Research Award and also with the Seal of Excellence.
HR Excellence in Research represents our commitment to continuous improvement and progress by aligning our human resources strategies and policies with the 40 principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (the Charter and the Code).
The Charter and Code (C&C) set out a series of general principles and requirements for research staff, as well as for employers and/or funding bodies. Their adoption by research institutions makes them more attractive to staff seeking a new employer or a host for their research project.
The HRS4R programme of the European Commission supports research institutions and funding organisations in implementing the Charter and Code in their policies and practices, with the aim of contributing to the consolidation of a unified and open European Research Area (ERA) that is unified and open to the world, based on an internal market in which researchers, scientific knowledge and technology circulate freely.
The Seal of Excellence is a prestigious endorsement designed to support outstanding applicants for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) whose proposals demonstrate exceptional potential but cannot be funded under the EC’s current budget.
